Absorption Tower

Absorption tower can be divided into three types. The first type is the plate column, bubble absorption tower and stirring bubble absorption tower in which the gas phase is dispersed as bubbles in the liquid phase. The second type is the ejector, Venturi tube and spray tower in which the liquid is dispersed as droplets in gas phase. The third type is packed absorption tower and falling film absorption tower in which the liquid is in contact with the gas phase in a film-like motion. The gas-liquid flow in the tower can be countercurrent or co-current flow. Countercurrent operation is mostly used. The absorbent is added to the top of the tower and flows from top to bottom, contacting with the gas flowing from the bottom to the top. The absorbed liquid is discharged from the bottom of the tower, and the purified gas is discharged from the top of the tower.
